First Blog Ever! - momentous occasion

As the title suggests this is my first blog ever. My ex house mate was a bit (still is really) of a fan girl so I unfairly thought that blogging was the domain of fan fiction and the self obsessed...and a few uni lecturers who think this is cooler than web ct (you know who you are).

I feel as though I am talking to no one, but I suppose that is part of the freedom this form of writing gives us. Before you actually post no one is judging you.

First of all, I just want to apologise for my late arrival in this unit. I wasn’t really sure I was doing it, swapped to something else and ended up back here. So I’ve got a bit of catching up to do. My name is Vanessa and I’m a third year C&CS student doing a major in Professional Writing and a minor in Politics. Third year is relative though, I seem to have stretched this degree out forever, but isn’t that what all good arts students do?!
I am really looking forward to getting to know everyone through their work in this unit. It was be a unique experience in the university system I think. Might be a less stressful workshop environment too!

It probably says something about my attitude towards blogging that my first blog is a sort of open letter. It defiantly shows I’m a professional writer more than a creative one and maybe that, at the moment at least, I see this as more a form of communication than one of expression.
It’ll be interesting (for me) to see if that sort of thinking changes any in the next couple of weeks.
Yay! No longer a blogging virgin!
Vanessa.
